Question by Southerngirl29 | Posted in Other - Careers & Employment
I would like to get the advice of others with my dilemma. I am currently very unhappy at my present job which I have only been at for 7 months. It isn't the work I do, but the conditions. My husband, 3 kids, and I moved 14 hours in order for me to take this position (in which I was desperately needed). The owner of the business has not upheld her side of the contract. After 90 days of employment, I was supposed to receive health insurance, dental and vision insurance, 401 K, short term disability, paid continuing education, and life insurance. I have seen none of these things. I have asked repeatedly about them, and she has always told me she is "working" on it. On top of this, she
Answer: Dust off that resume.
Put some feelers out there.
There is NOTHING wrong with changing jobs for conditions.
Do not get to wrapped up in the no breaks thing but a simple statement that
the promises of employment have not been supplied, like health insurance.
This does not make you a job hopper it makes you smart enough to know when you are being abused.
Let me make a prediction. When you walk in with you notice, you will get a big raise and all the stuff you were supposed to get long ago.
If you are generating that kind of money you might demand some of the things you were supposed to have.
If I'm Studying For My 'Fire & Casualty' License, WHY Do I Need To Know About The Requirements Of Life Insurer?
Question by »-(¯`v´¯)-» мaяк's ωifee | Posted in Insurance
I am about to take the (California) State Exam to obtain my 'Fire and Casualty' license to sell Insurance.
I just finished learning the 'CA Insurance Ethics & Code' .. but now I am learning the 'Life Insurance Law & Regulation'.
.. it's teaching me all about the 'continuing education' requirements that are required yearly to maintain the license AND it's teaching me all the different rules and regulations behind the 'Life Insurance' agents.
WHY do I need to know so much about 'Life Agents' when I won't even be licensed to sell Health Insurance or Life Insurance ...
And for anyone who is a 'Fire & Casualty' Agent (preferably Ca.)
Answer: It's part of being an agent. Sorry. Here the bureauocracy starts, and doesn't end.
As to how much, if I remember correctly, there was only one question on it on my test. But that's no guarantee there won't be two or three on yours - the test questions are pulled pretty much at random from a group of 500 or so questions.
Why Is It So Difficult For The Middle Class Famlies To Get Aid For College?
Question by karen | Posted in Financial Aid
I have been a widow for three years my husband passed away when my sons were 14 and 17 and he had no life insurance i am a nurse and get very little help for them for college I have to work two jobs it seems that the low income and african american students get everything you are short changing some brillant minds by making it difficult to educate our children other countries pay for their students to continue their education we need the whole system from k-college revamped
Answer: Actually, qualifying for aid is quite complex and can be a mine field for families for all incomes. Aid is not free money. Those are grants and come from many sources. Sorry for you loss. Not having life insurance was a step missed in family financial planning. I certainly encourage you to have proper life insurance.Rates today are quite low cost for most people. Not all low income, nor minorities, get financial aid. And finally, not everyone is college material. You do not mention vocational schools, trade schools, Jr. colleges, or other available higher level education institutions. The US military also offers learning/training opportunities for those willing to serve. By the way, many scholarships
For CRNA (nurse Anesthetist): How Do You Balance Work/life/family?? Is It Worth It?
Question by trae | Posted in Other - General Health Care
Hi there,
I'm a radiologic technologist with my BS in health sciences and considering going back to school to get my Accel. BSN with a goal of becoming a CRNA. I have alwasy considered nursing as a career, was actually accepted to a BSN program out of high school, but decided to take another route and get my radiography degree (2 year AS program). I am almost 23, female, no kids, and figure I would finish my MSN CRNA degree by the time I'm about 30 (start 15 month ABSN May 2010-Aug. 2011, 1-2 years ICU exp., 28 month MSN degree). I was fairly shocked with the job market for radiographers when I graduated school (only 1 person out my graduating class of 20 got a full time job!).
Answer: One of my friends is a CRNA and the reason she became one was to reduce the number of hours worked (and increase her salary). She works at an out-patient surgical center, and all of the surgeries are usually finished by noon or earlier. She is done when the last patient wakes up, which typically ranges from as early as 11:00 am to around 3:00 pm. There is no second shift, so there are occasional days when things are behind schedule and she might not get home until 5:30 pm. She works 4 days per week, and averages just under 8 hours per shift.
Some considerations: no weekends, no late shifts, occasionally on call, variable hours, usually work in pool of nurses that can cover
