Are Any Of The Health Insurance Companies On-line Good?

I am 26 Years old and I don't have health insurance. I was looking online and saw that there a alot of health insurance plans you can buy online. I was thinking about doing this but I wasn't sure how safe and legitamet it was. So if there is anyone who has had experiences good or bad please help me out.


Answer: Depending on where you reside there are several options that are very good. And some of these you can purchase on line.

mbrcatz17 is being a little over cautous in this case. We have several carriers that are on our website that you can purchase on line - and they are legit.

A good rule of thumb is to stay with the bigger named carriers like:

Blue Cross, Wellpoint, United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana etc.

Dont fall for the no-name company's. Most of the above carriers offer the ability for you to purchase on line, directly through the carrier website - or through the agent/brokers website.

OK So I Filled Out A Form To Get Quotes For Health Insurance On Line?

I got quote from like 10 diffrent companies. Anyway the following day I got 3 calls from said companies to give me quotes wich I already recived online that same day I lost my phone i don't have anything other than a cell phone so I was compleatly unable to talk to anyone. (this was monday BTW) I got a new phone today and I had a voice mail from everyday since monday from the same guy. Today's said that I OWED him the courtsy of calling him back and that he's sure I've been busy but that is no excuse to not return his call. Am I just being an ass here or is he being really rude especially since I only wanted quotes online? I relise this is how these people make there money but this man has now


Answer: To rely on any one particular sale is a sign of desperation. One follow-up call is understandable, especially if you requested contact, but several calls in the same week is a red flag. It is likely they are out for the sale, and nothing more. To retain a client for many years requires timely service and attention when requested. Hounding a potential customer shows the prospect that the commission is of most importance.

Why Do People Shop For Health Insurance On Line Then When Us As Reps Call Them Say They Don't Have Time .?

Why would you waste your time filling out the forms if you dont want our help .Plus as a rep we pay alot for those leads .Also why would anybody buy over the internet without meeting a rep first .Dont you realise your taking your family health for granted !


Answer: Because when i want to go shopping I'll go shopping. If i want Health insurance, or windows, or anything else I'm quite capable of doing the research and buying myself without someone calling me up at home, interupting my life and trying to sell me stuff. Don't tell me you're in it to help me, cos you're notit's a job, you do it for the paycheck and your paycheck depends on your commission. Now i've worked in sales, i have no problem with you trying to make a living but don't come here with your guilt trips. So you pay for your leads. So what? it's business and any business involves costs. deal with it. Oh, and as long as you see the people you're calling simply as leads you're never going to

Is It Legal For Employers To REQUIRE Employees Submit A Health Assessment To Be Eligible For Health Insurance?

My employer is saying that if we do not complete an on-line health assessment we will no longer be eligible for health insurance benefits. The healthassessment is done through our health insurance providers website; BUT, the health insurance provider does NOT require the assessment for coverage. Is this legal?


Answer: Yes, it is legal, but you cannot be charged extra premiums or denied the insurance based upon the assessment. from a FAQ put out by the Dept. of Labor, which helps enforce HIPPA:

"Can a plan require an individual to complete a health care questionnaire in order to enroll?
Yes, provided that the health information is not used to deny, restrict, or delay eligibility or benefits, or to determine individual premiums."
