I just called back the insurance company and a new guy answered. This is State Farm insurance that I am talking to. I told them that I want the check wrote out to me specifically using the quote from the body shop I chose (Fox Collision). They said that they can only write out a check to me if a State Farm estimater inspects my car. That sounds like a complete rip off, I trust a reputable Body Shop rather than an insurance company that I am going against. What should I do? Shouldnt they have to write me out a
Answer: Nope. State Farm policy states that in order for you to recieve a cash-out for a loss their own staff estimator must inspect the damage and write the estimate. Period. Besides, how do you know that the estimate they write won't be the same as the one written by the repair shop?

I bought a new car a month ago, and needed to get the insurance on it during the final paperwork signing at the dealer. I called Mercury insurance, they asked me about my driving record and I told them. I have 1 speeding ticket, and one at fault accident. The accident was very minor.
The agent specifically told me the accident would not affect my quote, only the speeding ticket would. I was told the insurance was $160/mo and was faxed a document to sign to start the policy and withdraw the monthly amount from my checking acct. I was charged a $300 downpayment.
Fast forward 3 weeks. 2 days ago I checked my bank acct, and the ins. company withdrew over $300 again,

When you get a quote, its specifically state on the quote that:
"This is merely a proposal and is not a policy of insurance or offer to insure. Rates quoted reflect the rates in effect as of the date of this proposal and are subject to revision. The company reserves the right to accept, reject, or modify this proposal, after investigation, review of the application and review of all other underwriting information".
With that being said, he should have sent you this quote in writing, so that you were notified about your rights as a consumer. He apparently wasnt trained enough to know that an accident at fault will ALWAYS be chargeble

Hi I'm in U.K (young driver, no claims bonus). and ive just recently bought a nissan micra 1.0 R reg i got a quote from AA, churchill, norwich union, zurich and they all are giving me a price of over 1500 pounds. Answer: First, are you getting a third party only? I ask as nobody will trust you with a fully comp insurance.
Here there are some more UK insurers, just be sure to get third party only (not TPF & Theft).

That way you'll be legal but if you smack it or it gets stolen, you lose it.
There is no point in paying big money out to the insurers for a fully comp. Just risk it and if you lose, it's still cheaper to lose the car than to pay this amounts of big money to them.
