Taking Secondary Health Insurance To Take Care Of Bridge Amount In Primary One?

my health insurance has a concept called called bridge amount which kicks in after $1500 of medical bills paid by it, the bridge amount is $750 for me + 1 dependent and i need to shell this out of my pocket after which again they take care, i donno if i should take a secondary insurance to take care of this, but that will almost cost the same. Any ideas ?

Answer: You are probably correct. The premium for the secondary policy will more likely than not exceed the benefit. Most policies do not just pick up a balance. Most often they only pay the balance up to what they would have paid if primary.

Can A Person That Has State Health Insurance Get A Secondary Health Insurance?

How would that work? If the person is receiving Food Stamps & Medical from the State, how can they possibly get a secondary insurance to cover other costs not listed on their State insurance? I'm confused.

Answer: Any additional policy they would get would become primary and the state Medicaid insurance will become secondary. This is by regulation in all states. Usually, it's the other way around; Medicaid picks up costs "not listed" on their primary insurance.

In most cases this happens if someone else buys the policy, such as a divorced parent, or through an employer that pays most if not all of the premium.

This can also happen if the person has enough income to purchase a very high deductible catastrophic plan but low enough income to get state aid.

I'm Confused About Primary And Secondary Health Insurance?

My daughter is on my policy, where all of the payments come out of a fund set at the beginning of the year, so if it is $1,000 that can be wiped out by one trip to the ER. Also, she is on her father's plan which is a taditional co-pay plan. Would it work out to my advantage to use his at primary and mine as secondary? Can the co-pay requirement from his insurance be paid from my plan?

Answer: Here are the rules of the National Association of Health Insurance Commissioners. These rules are listed in order - the first one to apply to you will be used to process claims.

1. If the Policy Holder is the same for both contracts:
a. The plan that covers the policyholder as an active employee is primary.
b. If the policyholder has the same employment status (active/retired) under both plans, the plan with the earliest effective date is primary.

2. If the Policy Holder is the spouse or domestic partner:
a. The plan that covers the policyholder as an employee is primary. The spouse's is secondary.

3. If children

How Does Medicaid Work As A Secondary Health Insurance?

I am pregnant and on my mother's insurance (Bluecross Blueshield). I was wondering if anyone knew about what would happen if I also got Medicaid to take care of the expenses that BCBS does not cover... I don't really know if this a good idea or not...

Answer: You most likely will not be able to get Medicaid because you have some insurance already. Medicaid is designed for people who have no other coverage at all. Good luck with your baby!

Does A Person On Medicaid Need To Continue With A Secondary Health Insurance Like Blue Cross?

I can't get a straight answer from either agency. Naturally Blue Cross wants their monthly payments to continue -- as Medicaid wants their percentage of health costs to be at a minimum. Can someone out there give me a definative answer?
I can't get a straight answer from either agency--Blue Cross naturally wants the payments, Medicaid wants to pay less so they are telling me Blue Cross will Still be needed. I've applied for Medicaid for my mother (in a nursing home in Florida). At this point, she is on Medicare and has Blue Cross & Blue Shield. I would think that once, she is accepted by Medicaid, we wouldn't need to keep paying Blue Cross. I received 4 answers from Yahoo answers,

Answer: Medicaid or Medicare? Where I live, you can't get Medicaid if you have insurance. Medicaid is based on income and ability to get medical care. With Medicare, secondary health insurance is really a necessity these days.
