They have always branded themselves as insurance for women drivers only. Now that it is being made illegal to offer women cheaper motor insurance than men in the UK, will they rebrand to sell insurance to men too?
Answer: Because they will now be unable to offer insurance exclusively to women they will be required to offer insurance for men. That's fine, but it is not illegal to primarily cater to women so there is no reason that they will not keep the same name and focus on offering coverage to women while at the same time making it available to any man that wants his insurance with Sheila's Wheels. No problem.
So, Car Insurance For Lady Drivers Will Be Going UP Then Thanks To The EU?

The European Court of Justice has just ruled that gender can no longer be taken into account when setting the cost of motor insurance. Did that little matter slip you by?

Now, come on fellas, we all make jokes about ladies driving, but it's all meant in good humour. Women are safe drivers after all, and they do have fewer accidents. Mrs Fox will tell you that bless her.
ANYWAY:
1st point is, why put their insurance up anyway in the first place?
2, if they do put their insurance up, then they should 'average' the cost of everybody's insurance, and that should mean
Answer: The figure being quoted is that premiums will come down around 10% for men, and go up around 30% for women. Either way, it appears the insurers will still win.
Then again, this is an ECJ ruling I can agree with, which makes a change.
This coming from a man who, 2 months after passing his test, rolled an Austin Allegro into a ditch and subsequent stone wall and wrote it off, followed by a Maestro, into the same ditch and into the same stone wall, on the same spot, a year later.
Women drivers have fewer accidents and then they are less expensive ones anyway so women are a better insurance risk, right? Everybody knows this because they keep telling us that it is so.
Now watch the the TV ad for Sheila's Wheels, a woman-only motor insurance company. The one with the Pink Caddy.
During most of the ad there is nobody at the wheel of the car except for one brief shot where the thing is being driven by a kangaroo (of indeterminate gender) and in over half the footage the car is going BACKWARDS at HIGH SPEED.
How stupid do they think we are? I guess all the Iraqi WMD's we never found are in the trunk, huh?

What is the legal status of transsexuals with respect to motor insurance in the UK? Does an MTF transsexual (i.e., a woman born a boy) still have to pay men's (exorbitant) insurance prices even after the Operation, or does she qualify for cheaper car insurance?
Answer: Sure most motor insurance companies will happily write you a policy in a female name, but while you are pre-op they are highly unlikely to adjust premium / risk in your favour ....
.... basically you remain "male" in actuarial terms (my own UK experience following honest disclosure ) - and since when did oral estrogens really affect your driving style / cut aggression ? - just made me a bit crazier a driver than I was already, cooler headed yes, more relaxed, but faster !
If you fail to tell your "past" gender to your insurers they have valid and legal reasons to decline any claim, certainly if you don't have a "Gender Recognition Certificate".
I was in a motor vehicle accident in my home state of Connecticut over the summer. (I was hit from behind, so it was not my fault). Shortly after, I left for Upstate New York for grad school. I'm still having neck and shoulder problems, so my doctor advised me to see an orthopedist. I have been calling several and everyone is refusing to treat me because it's an out of state matter! What we have been doing back in CT was providing my medical insurance at my doctors visits...now we have collected most of the bills and are getting ready to submit them to the woman at fault's auto insurance. Her insurance told us that this would be the quickest way to get these matters taken care of. But
Answer: First I'd contact the insurance commissioner's office in NY and CT and explain the situation. Second, I'd go see a neurologist. They have more experience with injuries to the neck as there are vital nerves and they are used to dealing with those nerves.
