Having rung round a few car insurance companies yesterday for a quote, I was surprised that they all asked me whether or not I smoked. I'm used to this sort of question on health or life insurance, but CAR? I don't remember this ever happening before. Guess they up the premium a bit for smokers. Has anyone else found the same?
Fubar. I'm sure that using a phone in the car is more dangerous and distracting than smoking, but they didn't ask me that!
Answer: it is seen as a possible distraction and therefore a risk. they don't ask over mobiles as it is illegal to use non hands free. much in the same way they dint ask if you speed as that is illegal too. As all insurance quotes are measured directly to risks that they have vast amounts of statistics to back up their premium assessments

How Can I Become Independent Insurance Agent Having Agency Of Multiple Companies ?

Hi,
I like marketing and sales, but in my own terms.
I recently went through policybazaar.com, there they sell insurance by showing quotations of different Insurance Companies and the Client has to select his best suitable policy/insurance from the list of quotations.
Now this good, the salesman doesn't have to be pushy and even clients have a lots of options to choose from.
Now even I like to do that, but How can I become Independent Insurance agent having agency of Multiple Companies ?
With that I like to start with Motors Insurance. I want to agency of multiple companies.

Answer: Get on the phone with an independent agent and ask them. Some companies will only hire some people, whereas others wont. They may have specific requirements they need you to meet.
I know that my own person agent represents many companies, but in others cannot do business.
When you go to a site and they promise certain things, you need to get the facts 1st. Since if you start business and expect to get paid and find out differently, what are you going to do?
Do some research 1st, since you may find out this is a scam and beware.

I informed the car owner and gave insurance details.He said I don`t have to do anything, I escorted a motor mechanic to polish the bumper to his post office, as a part of courtesy.Then, he demanded £50(Quotation from garage) and he has not allowed mechanic to do it. Several times, I went to his post office, but in front of other customers, he opens the same old issue and make me to feel embarrassed. What shall I do ? Shall I pay £50 for my honesty ? Shall I pay for my honesty ?
Answer: You shouldn't have bothered to inform him if there was no mark on his car. He now sees you as a soft touch and is trying to get money out of you. Don't give it to him! Maybe he is trying to mend something on his car that you weren't even responsible for, so be careful!
You could go to the Citizens Advice Bureau and ask for their advice; that is a free service, otherwise you could speak to your insurance company, but be careful if you decide to do this, because they may treat it as if you are reporting an accident and your premium could go up because of it! If he causes any more problems for you, you may even go to the police to see what they have to say, but I would try Citizens
