How Much Does HomeOwners Insurance Cost In Massachusetts?

What is the adverage cost for Home Owners Insurance for a house marketed in the $100,000- $130,000 range, built in the late 1890's located in Marlborough, MA 01752?

Style: Colonial
Price: $112,900
Bedrooms: 4
Baths: 2 Full Baths
Sqft: 1,293
Lot Size: 8485
Year Built: 1899
Area: Marlborough, MA - Western Suburbs
County: Middlesex
Taxes: $2,853

(All im looking for is an approximate number so I know what calculations to consider)

Answer: cost of the house, has NOTHING to do with the value to rebuild it, especially in MA.

With a house that old, you're actually going to have a hard time finding a company to insure it. Depending on the cost to rebuild, you should expect to pay $1500 to $2500. But if you're looking at BUYING this house, you could also ask the prior owner what they pay. Not that it matters much . . .

Homeowners Insurance For Mobile Home?

My in laws live in a mobile home in Massachusetts. They had Hanover for homeowners Insurance but they do not insure mobile homes any more. They now have Foremost....but it has almost doubled their rates. Does anyone know a insurance company who will take "new" policies and are reasonable? (Allstate does not take New policies for mobile homes anymore.) thanks in advance.

Answer: It varies depending on how much coverage you want and if you have any other riders you want attached (i.e. fur/jewelry, weapons, antiques, etc.)

Contact a few insurance companies and compare quotes for the same amount of coverage.

If you have an auto policy, sometimes the firm will give discounts for multiple policies.

Can Anyone Recommend A Good Homeowner's Insurer In Massachusetts? I Was Just Dropped From Electric Insurance.

I would discourage anyone from using Electric Insurance (EI). EI is a small company with a VERY LOW risk threshold. I had EI homeowners and auto insurance for over 18 years. In all that time, I had one claim filed against me for less $2,500 when my 6 lb doggie gave the lawn guy a bite. EI would not renew my homeowner’s policy and waited 45 days before it expired to tell me. Months earlier, the claims adjuster assured me my policy would not be dropped for such a small claim of this type. Don’t take a chance with EI
