My wife has an aetna health insurance family plan, and my job offers Signa health care for free for the first year. We are expecting a baby soon and i was wondering can we use aetna then use signa for whatever aetna does not pay? For example if some procedure cost 10000 aetna pays 80% which leaves me with $2000 to pay, signa also covers 80%, can i use them for that part, which would leave me with $400?
Answer: Yes, that's exactly how it works. The primary insurance will pick up the major expense.(Aetna) Then your insurance, Signa, should pick up the rest. Leaving you and your wife with hardly anything to pay after all is done. So, when going to pre-register at the hospital, bring both insurance cards with you and submit them at that time. Conagrats on the new arrival!

Answer: Your wife's plan is primary for her, and your plan is secondary. YOU don't get to choose how they each pay out, though - they will coordinate benefits themselves, which can lead to a lot of headaches.
When Cigna covers 80%, with you having a 20% copay, it's 20% of the TOTAL, not 20% of the DEDUCTIBLE. So that still leaves you paying $2,000 out of pocket.
When the baby arrives, which policy is primary depends on the birthdate of the baby.
**Those checkups and vaccinations the first year are very, very, VERY expensive - usually costing in excess of $4,000. Says me, a mom who's written the checks.**
I'm quite possibly starting a job soon (waiting to work the $$ situation out) and they offer Signa health insurance. It costs twice as much as what i'm used to paying. I'm just wondering if it is a good company to be insured under. I had United Healthcare and hated that whole HRA account thing.
Thanks!
maybe it's Cigna? It was told to me verbally, not sure of the spelling.
Answer: It's Cigna.
And it depends on what plans your employer offers. They have anything ranging from really crappy to excellent. Just make sure that when you are choosing a plan, read all the fine print.
At my last job, we had Cigna and apparently I chose a plan (PPO Plus or something like that) and it was $22 a week ($88 a month). Well, I didn't realize I had a huge deductible to pay before anything was covered. That sucked.
It depends on your needs, but what plan you have is going to depend on what your employer offers. If it is much more expensive, it probably is a better plan, hence better benefits.
i am 17, and will be 18 january 12th. i curently live in california, but will be going to arizona to start college in january. my parents have signa nationwide health insurance, and i was wondering if i would still be covered if i only wnet to school part time? i am considering going part time because is is about 2000 more dollars to take 4 classes rather than two, and i am still waiting for my financial aid which wont come until after january. any help would be appreciated, thanks.
edit- i just called am i am covered until i am 26 regardless of school. thanks for the answers!
Answer: If your parents want to keep you on it, then yes.
I really need your help. So my mom has a cold/fever and has been coughing and wheezing so much that its difficult for her to breathe at night. She wants to go to the doctor now but the problem is that my dad wont take her, and here are his reasons:
1) The doctor will say the same thing, to take an inhalar which we already have, but my mom doesn't use it because it makes her throw up
2) "our body heals itself naturally"
we used to have kaiser health insurance but we switched out because it got very expensive, to something called signa or something... well whatever it is, we cant go to the doctors as often... i beleive.. anyway I want to take
Answer: I go through this regularly with a family member. The inhaler will not work. It CANNOT work. The inhaler dilates the breathing passages, but that's not the problem. Your mom probably has bronchitis, and will need a special cough syrup for that, which will suppress the coughing and allow her to get some sleep, so her body can heal.
Your dad is so tightfisted that he would apparently rather see your mom die than get help for her.
One thing you might consider is going to a doc-in-the-box also known as an an urgent-care walk-in clinic. Try your local Rite-Aid and so on.
