What Is The Length Of Time Of The Total Premium For Aetna Health Insurance?

I was attempting to get a quote on line. Prices shown were for the total premium. Would the total premium be yearly or monthly? There was no mention of the length of time the total premium covered. Thank you.

Answer: That would be monthly. You pay for health insurance on a month to month basis.

Can Aetna Raise My Health Insurance Premium?

Just got a notification in the mail about my insurance premium going up by 26 dollars a month (25%). I started paying for my own health insurance when I switched employers about 8 months ago. My health hasn't changed since then, my age hasn't changed, but it went up 25%? I thought that when you are first quoted a rate it was locked in for a certain period of time. Is there anything I can do to stop or at least slow this down? They gave me 2 months notice before the rate increase.

Answer: Some insurance companies have rate-guarantee policies that will lock in your original rate for a certain period of time, but many don’t. Unfortunately, it is not terribly uncommon to be hit with a rate increase like this. You can be sure it wasn’t anything personal – they probably raised rates across the board in your area.

Since it sounds like you are paying for your own coverage (rather than getting it through an employer) you can take this as an opportunity to make sure you’ve still got the right health insurance plan and are getting the most for your health insurance dollars. Why Do Insurance Companies Make You Take Medicare?

I have tried unsuccessfully to get a quote for individual health insurance from Aetna, Humana and Cigna. I want a quote for my aunt who is 66 and needs health insurance. They will only give me quotes for supplemental to Medicare. Why does she HAVE to take Medicare? Why won't they let her pay for insurance?

Answer: you started in the wrong office; Social Security takes the monthly fee for Medicare Health Insurance directly out of your aunt's monthly Social Security Retirement check, about $100 for most folks.
Unless you terminated the Medicare coverage, every insurance company is only going to quote you the price for supplemental coverage. Medicare is the Primary Insurer, they pay first, other insurance would be 'supplemental'. You really don't want to terminate the Medicare coverage, there are heavy penalties to re-enroll.
The premium for Medicare Insurance from Soc Sec is very reasonable ( $100 vs $500 or more ) compared to those who have not yet become eligible for Medicare; that's why
