Which Company Is Better For Individual Health Insurance--Aetna Vs United?

I'm currently trying to buy an individual health insurance plan. There are two companies that I'm interested in--Aetna and United because I think those are the two best companies. However, I'm trying to decide between the two of them. Which do you think is better?

Answer: I think you should ask your insurance broker. Your insurance broker can go over the two companies, help you with the application process, AND help you at claim time should a claim be declined. Both are good, but it depends on where you live and what the plan looks like for you. I have clients with both companies and I have them with both because one is not always better than the other.

When you do business with a broker you're not paying them so get their expertise to work for you.

Should I Extend COBRA Or Upgrade My Individual Health Insurance?

I have individual Aetna with PPO with high deductible ($5000) since 2006.
I also had employer group coverage but only for 1 month because I got "fired" after trial period. My group health ins was with Blue Cross with lower deductible ($2500).

What can I do with Aetna? I will keep it instead of COBRA because its cheaper ($80 a month) but I think about either extending my employer insurance via COBRA to february or get upgraded my individual health insurance (would that require signing new policy?)
I don't know if I can buy from aetna another better insurance and provide continuation for preexisitng condition from my old.

I was diagnosed

Answer: You’re fortunate to have more than one option to choose from, especially since you seem to have a pre-existing medical condition, but I understand your dilemma. You only need one health plan and you want to make the smartest move financially. Does it make more sense to pay a higher deductible and lower monthly premium, or vice versa? If you expect to have lots of medical care in the near term it might make sense to go with the lower deductible option, but not necessarily.

Here’s what I might suggest:

Keep both plans just for now. If you’re eligible for COBRA, you typically have sixty days to enroll in it from the time you lost your job. In the meantime,

I Am 14 Weeks Pregnant And Just Moved To California And Found Out That My Aetna Health Insurance Doesn't Cover?

My insurance doesn't cover pregnancy for individual plans. I have too much money to be covered by medi-cal and Aim requires at least 6 months of residency to be covered. I can afford health care but no one will cover me now. Do I have any other options?

Answer: Most OB's and hospitals have discounted rates for prenatal care and delivery. Call your OB and the hospital you will be delivering at and ask. Best to check early since some may require that the fees be paid prior to or at delivery. You will also need to ask about the cost of the well baby check (and if a male baby, circumcision) done by the pediatrician in the hospital and the cost of an epidural.

Your other option is to get a job with group coverage. Pregnancy cannot be considered preexisting with a group coverage.

Aetna Individual Termination?

I had an individual health care plan through Aetna health insurance. I traveled out of the country for six weeks and upon returning home I had a termination notice from Aetna. Now obviously I forgot to to pay but that's only because I wasn't in the country. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Will Aetna re-open my account if I call?
Look everyone, I know I messed up in my original statement I said " Now obviously I forgot to pay" thanks for rubbing that in my face. Maybe you all should address the actually question instead of being asses and not helping whatsoever. If I wanted to be reminded why I got terminated and have it shoved in my face I would have went to church

Answer: If your policy was out of force 30 days or less you should be able to reinstate it, if not then yu will have to reapply and re qualify.

Has Anyone Gotten Individual Health Insurance NOT Through An Employer?

i dont qualify for medicare or any state health programs because my unemployment is too much (yea right) and i have applied to Aetna and theyre reviewing it...i dont smoke or drink but i do have bad allergies and asthma...could they deny me because of that? how long has it taken for anyone else to get approved?

Answer: LOTS of people - probably 10% or more, are insured on individual health insurance policies (individual means, not through an employer).

Typically, with asthma, it will take a month to six weeks to verify how badly your asthma affects you. If your asthma is mild, and you haven't been hospitalized for it recently, it won't affect your approval.
