Can't Find A Psychiatrist?
Question by XYZ | Posted in Mental Health
I need to be on some new medication and to see a psychiatrist. My therapist recommended one who he sends his patients to. I called the psychiatrist to make an appointment and he was asking very personal questions before I ever saw him. I also have cancer but I'm in remission. He did not want to see me and I'm sort of embarrassed...I mean even Charles Manson has had a psychiatrist. I have good insurance and pay my bills!
Why would a psychiatrist not want to help a patient? Could it be because of my cancer? I don't want to tell my psychologist how jerky the guy got with me. I'm suicidal I wish I could get help!
Answer: You need to discuss this with your therapist who made the referral. It probably isn't the first time and there is likely a backup psychiatrist, who may be better. It's impossible to know why the psychiatrist rejected you. Cancer in remission isn't a significant risk factor for most any competent psychiatrist.
Is The Belief That "money Is The Root Of All Evil" The Dumbest Religious Expression In The World?
Question by Sheepleherder | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
Holy cow is this stupid stuff. First of all, I can sit here forever and list horrible things that have nothing to do with money. The Manson murders were done for religious sport, not for money. Robbery wasn't the motive. John Wayne Gacy didn't murder all those boys for money, nor did Dufuss Daumer, yet the scriptures that repeat this stupidity say that money is the root of "all" evil. All of it.
So we know right out of the gate that this stupidity is false, but can we still say "ohhh ok...so it's not at the root of ALL evil but, come on, give god a break, he meant to say that its behind most evil."
Uh hello einstein's, lets stop for a second,
Answer: money itself is not evil... corruption and greed is the only evil thing... which I think is the intent behind the saying...
How Do You Find Meaning/deal With This Pointless, Throwaway Society We Have Created?
Question by the who | Posted in Other - Society & Culture
Where anything goes, people don't care and are shallow as hell, and life just seems to have no point or soul to anything. Everything is work, the TV shows are generic and suck, and the meaning of life is all but lost?
I mean it's stupid, I was even watching TV shows last night like scrubs, and even though I keep reminding myself, "it's just a TV show," I can't help but to notice that the actors only care about looks, their own stupid self-important lives, and pretty much add to the meaninglessness and pointlessness of everything; it's like you're a hospital staff, even though it's a comedy, you act like it's all BS. Same with movies. It's nto really fair to pick on scripted
Answer: Yes! There is always hope!
Years ago there was some hair care product that said, "she told two people, and they told two people, and they told two people..." Everything starts with one person and expands. What have you expanded today - besides this feeling of hopelessness?
I suggest you start by putting a stop to your focus on all the things that are wrong with people and society. There is plenty of good out there and you can find it if that's what you're looking for.
You can't control the world but you have considerable control over YOUR world. Don't get caught up in the nonsense but rather surround yourself with people and things of true

Currently, 330 reported having a panic attack, and four percent had a heart attack – otherwise known as a mild heart attack (MI) – or a stroke. A panic attack may increase the risk of a woman of a heart attack and stroke by nearly three hundred percent. After controlling for variables such as smoking, hypertension, inactivity and depression,Smoller and colleagues found that women who reported panic attacks were three times more likely to suffer a myocardial infarction or stroke within five years. Smoller speculated panic attack may trigger heart rhythm problems or release the stress hormone that can affect the body....
