Where Can I Find Cheap Medical Insurance For My Dog?

I live in nyc and i am interested in finding out where i can find affordable medical insurance for my 6 year old dog.

You should check out www.petinsurancereview.com which is a great site also. They have reviews and ratings of most of the companies.

I would suggest not getting routine care, with whatever company you choose. You end up paying more through insurance for regular check-ups than if you were to pay for them yourself.

i am a low income person and have a dogie that i would like to insure medically

Answer: Pet insurance comes at a cost... if there was a "cheap" one then everyone would be using that one.

Sorry but if you can't afford the potential 1000$+ veterinary bills, you probably shouldn't have a dog at all.

Anyone Have Dog Medical Insurance?

Is it worth it? What company do you use and can you tell me about how much it is monthly? Are the co-pays reasonable?
Our dog Maggie has had a few health problems, and may have ongoing skin problems. We just spent a lot on Mange medicines, for the Derma-something Mange. And she has serious anxiety issues...she's not an inexpensive dog! I'm wondering if doggy insurance is the way to go!

Answer: I have pet insurance through Trupanion for my dog and so far it's worth it even though I haven't used it. I'm a recent college grad so I can't really afford unexpected expenses right now.

Since I chose a $0 deductible, my premium is around $40 a month, but you can choose up to $1000 deductible which would make your premiums much lower.

Trupanion covers 90% of the entire bill (no fee schedules) and no claim limits or annual limits so I'm not worried if I receive an $8,000 bill :)

You should watch out because no matter which company you choose, they are not going to cover pre-existing conditions - so the skin problems you'll have to keep paying for

Will Medical Insurance Pay For A Presription For A Dog, For A Person Will Mild Depression?

I know that some medical providers (doctors and shrinks) sometimes tell a person to get a dog for mild depression, if they are against taking pills. Will medical insurance companies cover this or part of this prescription. This topic came up at a guys night, as one of my friend's girlfriend is feeling down and her doctor was talking to her about this.

Answer: I am sure that if perscribed you could argue the fact and amount of the dog. But I would go on the safe side and just adopt one from the humane society for free.. It will save the dog, and it will save you from having to shell out bucks if they deny the claim.

I have a dog whose general medical insurance is covered - can I just buy a policy which will protect me if he was to bite someone? Not that he bites - but better to be safe than sorry.

Answer: How much are you willing to pay? MOST of the time, you can by ANY type of insurance - if you're willing to pay enough.

The cost effective way to do this, however, depending on his breed, is to buy a renter's insurance policy. If he's a high risk breed, you'll have to be willing to pay thousands.
