I Feel Discriminated Against By The New Motor Carrier Insurance Companies. What Can I Do?
Question by battle_hogen | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I drive Commercial and school buses. Lately I've found it to impossible to hire on anywhere. I'm told that it's because of changes to the Regulations. Can anyone explain why?
Answer: When you drive a bus you have to have a limousine type commercial license.
The position your trying for may require a different rated CDL license.
There is a different CDL for different applications.....Like Hazardous material. Class A, Class B,Class C, Air brakes, air over hydraulic, Tractor trailer and so on.
They've added more types of licenses and yours may not meet the requirement for driving one of their vehicles anymore. You just need to find out what kind of CDL they require and go obtain one.
What Is The Cheapest Motor Vehicle Insurance Company In NY Right Now?
Question by sunrah69 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
I wanted to know if anyone knew of any good insurance companies with low rates. I'm kinda sick of the one I have now Geico. Service is not great, guess they spend too much money on commercials and none on customer service. Any info would be great! Thanks.
Answer: Based on my experience as a Broker.............I get most of my cheapest rates from AIG. Lots of our clients are pretty satisfied with them.
Forget all the nonsense about your driving record, age, all that stuff. To get cheap and affordable insurance, you need to shop around...just don't jump in and settle for one guy. check with a local brokrage in you neighborhood and let them quote you with different companies...You can also use online resources to shop around for car insurance.
GET QUOTES FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES.............AND MAY THE CHEAPEST QUOTE WIN!
I need commercial auto coverage, and motor truck cargo coverage. I'll have one van, with cargo and one employee. Who do you think would be the best/cheapest, and about how much a month should I expect for this to cost. Thanks
Answer: I can't think of any companies that would sell BOTH policy types, to a new venture with no insurance history. Plus, with that employee, you'll also need workers compensation coverage, in most states.
So, Progressive is a great company for a new commercial auto policy. I'm partial to Great American for that cargo coverage, but maybe you've got an agent in your state that knows of a different one. And for workers comp, you'll need the state fund, as you have no workers comp history.
Now for the bad news. Progressive is probably going to require a minimum of 50% down. Great American will require payment in full, and so will that workers comp carrier.
Does anyone know about this company as i'm wondering if i can use motorcycle NCB with a car. The below is from there site but i'm not sure if a motorcycle is classed a motor vehicle or if they just mean 4 wheels?
''We can only accept your no claims discount earned with another insurer if it has been earned on a private motor or commercial vehicle policy''
Well, i know Churchill, Tesco's, Ecar & a few others do it.
Answer: I don't think so - motorcycle insurance is different from a private car (you know - 4-wheels good, 2-wheels bad), so you wont be able to use your motorcycle bonus.
I am quite irked by this....when the premium for my Commercial General Liability Policy came due I was told the above. My/Company credit it spotless. I was further aggravated when the Broker told me, that I could finance through Him if I did not pay the "lump sum"...Premium is $25,000.apx. Easy way to profit at my expense !!! When you buy an insurance policy for a motor vehicle you are most always offered a payment plan, through the underwriter. And, they are significantly less expensive policies !!
Is this a standard practice with Commercial General Liability Packages...Or Did I Just end up with a "Creative Broker"
Answer: Some states require that, for personal auto and homeowners, a company offers payments.
NO states require that for commercial insurance. MOST companies, once you hit $25,000, will offer a payment plan, if it's through an admitted carrier. NONE will, if it's a surplus lines carrier. Most of the time, that payment plan, is contingent on you're paying EFT, or it's quarterly instead of monthly payments.
Bottom line - if your policy has a "100% fully earned" clause, you can't get financing unless the agent is guaranteeing you, to the company. It's probably not going to happen, for a new venture, or an agent that you don't personally know, because what it
