Dental Insurance And Plans?

i live near houghton lake michigan, and i need to see a dentist badly!! i lost my dental coverage when i turned 21, and because of my age change, i am no longer able to get free dental coverage through my state. i have 3 children all under the age of 4 that need me, and because of the pain im experiencing it is extremely difficult for me to take care of them!!! i have 5 cavities, and 2 impacted wisdom teeth. i brush every day, but i keep getting problems with my teeth. i am on a very tight budget, and cannot afford to pay out of pocket fees to go to a dentist. does anybody know of affordable plans or insurance? or if anyone is familier with the area that knows of a dentist that accepts sliding

Answer: You have four options with dental.

1. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Den talschools.html

2. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage

Why Would I Have Been Put On Medipass Instead Of Title 19?

I live in Des Moines, Iowa and am 15 weeks pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant I immediately signed up for medicare (specifically title 19) because my regular health insurance didn't cover pregnancy. I just found out today that I was placed on Medipass (a medicare program that unlike title 19 *where you can go to any doctor who accepts it* medicare PICKS the doctor I must go to) the problem is they never asked me who my primary physician was so they just assigned me to the wrong doctor. That doctor now has to "refer" me to go to any future appointments with my obgyn (even though I've been seeing him for two and a half months). I got medipass to switch to my regular doctor however

Answer: First off, you did not sign up for Medicare, you signed up for Medicaid. Medicare is Title 18 of the Social Security Act (for aged or disabled) while Medicaid is Title 19 of the same act. Two different things. (FYI - Medicare does not have any maternity coverage because it is mainly for people over 65 and very few of those people require this coverage.)

Depending upon which county you live you will automatically be placed in a managed care plan such as Medipass. You are still receiving Medicaid but you must get your coverage through the plan. Many states are going to this type of plan because they are out of money and these managed care plans cost the state less. You have no choice
