I have an 2 year old english bulldog. Hes always had skin issues due to alergies and sensitive digestion, being as he can only eat grain free food. It seems he is always hurting his back legs or straining them. Took him to the vet the other day and they think it could be a ruptured ACL, so hes been put on anti-inflammatory for a week. If he gets better I want to look into AKC insurance as if it were an ACL problem I could not afford it. Anyone out there have AKC and is it worth it?? Thank you ahead of time for your answers!
Answer: The majority of pet insurers do not cover pre-existing conditions, but a few will provide a grace period, usually six months to a year, after which the injury or illness will be covered if it reoccurs. One such provider is ASPCA Pet Health Insurance, http://www.hartvillegroup.com Congenital and hereditary diseases are usually not covered, although a limited number of insurers sell add-on policies. Unfortunately, these riders usually come at a fairly high cost. Like health insurance companies for humans, some of these providers don't always play fair. Before making a decision, you might want to take a look at the link in the source list, below, which provides unbiased user reviews for pet
The Neighbors Pitbull Broke Through My Fence, My Dog Is Gone And They Refuse To Give Me Their Insurance Name?
Question by Carol | Posted in Dogs
The neighbor's pitbull broke through my fence again, but this time, my akc Yorkie has disappeared. It is obvious that the pitbull killed it. The neighbors won't discuss it, but did get rid of the dogs after they came after me 2 wks later. Coincidently, the day their dogs left is the day my cat disappeared. I want to deal with their homeowner's insurance but they refuse to give me any info. How can I find out? The fence has been chewed through in several places and I want my pedigree dog replaced at some later date.
Answer: Sorry about your dog, that's awful. I would never have left it alone in the yard if I knew those pits were chewing through the fence all the time. Why didn't you call the police when you knew the dogs killed your Yorkie? Especially since you have children that could have been attacked! They went after you and you still didn't call the police? Something is wrong with this story. Do you think the insurance company is just going to take your word for it and cut you a check? Their insurance company will probably not do much since you have no proof other than a hole in the fence and you will have to file a lawsuit and they will bury it for years. You not calling the police when this happened is going
Need Homeowner's Insurance That Doesn't Restrict Dog Breeds?
Question by Lulu | Posted in Dogs
I realize this can vary from state to state (I happen to live in a state where this practice is allowed) and even agent to agent.
Please let me know if you’re aware of any home owner’s insurance companies that do not discriminate against particular dog breeds. We don’t have a dog yet, but plan to get one in the spring. Two of the breeds we’re most interested in, Husky & German Shepard, are on the list of dogs many insurances companies inaccurately consider dangerous.
I checked the AKC website, and it only gives tips on how to negotiate with the companies. Our current insurer told us they’d write the policy without mention of any dog, and told us
Answer: State Farm does not restrict dog breeds. I have also heard how great State Farm handles claims so I would check it out if I were you.
I have Allstate and they will cover you with any dog; however, if the dog is on "the list" you have to pay more.
Or can you recommend a good dog insurance/healthcare plan?
Answer: http://www.gopetplan.com/ This is the one I plan to get after checking out ratings and what's offered by several plans.
If you go to this site you can check out the ratings and get links to several companies including the AKC plan. http://www.petinsurancereview.com/index. asp
Does anyone have medical insurance for their puppy or dog? Is it worth it? My puppy is an AKC bulldog and I noticed they ofter insurance. Any advice would be great. Thanks
Answer: Pet insurance is a great idea, especially for puppies because they get into trouble, and especially for bulldogs since they are prone to medical problems.
I would recommend starting at http://www.petinsurancereview.com to see the ratings from actual customers on each company.
I have Trupanion for my dog and I really like them, and the only claim I have filed so far was paid within 2 weeks, so in my experience, they get back to you quickly. I have heard companies like vpi take months to repay a claim.
Anyway, I would definitely recommend them because they seemed to be the most fair to me. They don't have benefits schedules so they cover 90% of the
