Family Health Insurance Plan Or Individual Health Insurance Plans For Each Person?
Question by 360mommy | Posted in Insurance
I am quoting health coverage in Kansas for my family since we do not get this from an employer. My agent suggested that each family member have a separate insurance plan instead of one family plan to cut costs. I have never heard of doing this? Any comments or suggestions? Thanks
Answer: Usually, it would make more sense to have everyone one the same plan.
However, I have heard of circumstances where some members of the family have a separate policy, because of one family member's health issue. The healthy family members can stay on a lower premium policy, while the family member with the health complication goes on their own policy.
It really just depends on the circumstances involved. Make sure to get quotes for each scenario, so that you can make a fully informed decision.
Can 3 Adults Be Covered Under One Family Health Insurance Plan?
Question by Bonnie G | Posted in Insurance
My husband is ordered by divorce decree to cover his ex-wife and son for health insurance. He is now married to me and we have a son. Up to 3 weeks ago when I lost my job, I just carried my own individual health insurance through my company. I think I should be on his family plan now and not her. Does anyone know if the ex-wife can be carried on the same plan and my husband and me and our kids as a dependent?
Answer: The ex-spouse is usually not eligible for health insurance coverage once a person remarries. You, as current spouse, and all of his children, should be on his family plan.
Where Can I Get Family Health Insurance In Alabama?
Question by stefie42886 | Posted in Insurance
I will be quitting my job soon to be a stay at home mom, thus losing my medical insurance. My husband's insurance through his company is very expensive due to it being so small (only 20 or so people in the company). I will need to find a health insurance plan for my family, but am having a hard time finding any plans that have good coverage and don't have a large premium amount. Does anyone know of a good health insurance company I should look at? Please keep in mind I live in Alabama....a lot of the insurance companies online only apply to certain states. Thanks a bunch.
Answer: I can't imagine it's going to be cheaper on your own.
You need to go to a local, independent agent, and ask for quotes. They'll have the ones with providers in your area.
If you have no preexisting conditions, and you're around 30, it's GOING to cost YOU, $250 a month, your HUSBAND $250 a month, and the KIDS, $200 a month EACH. Is that cheaper than your husband's plan?
If you have preexisting conditions, they will be excluded, OR, you might flat out be declined.
that's JUST what health insurance costs. Or, you sacrifice coverage, OR, you take a $5,000 deductible before the insurance kids in, OR, you sign up for a health discount
Family Health Insurance Plan For 19yr Old, 17yr, And Few Day Old Baby? Need It To Marry.?
Question by Elisha M | Posted in Insurance
My fiance and I want to get married right away and have been wanting to for a while but had to wait until the insurance plan he had at his job kicked in. That would have been next month but now he is getting another job and going back to college next semester so we won't have that insurance. I can't marry him until we have the insurance thing figured out because I won't be covered under my parents' once we are wed and they won't let us till this is done. This is more urgent than ever that we get married now because my parents are driving us mad trying to control everything. I just gave birth to our baby girl on Tuesday so we need to find a good family plan. If you have any advice on what insurance
Answer: You may not be able to get a family plan right now.
First of all, most insurers for privately purchased plans will require the infant to be at least 8 weeks old befor they will be covered. And they have to pass a medical exam. (The only way you can generally add an infant to a plan immediately is if you already had the plan in effect, or if its a group plan through an employer.)
I tried plugging your information into ehealthinsurance.com and there were zero plans you were eligible for. Every plan either had a stipulation that the spouse had to be older than 17 and/or that the infant had to be at least 8 weeks old.
