I am a graduate student in Chicago, and I have a low-income status. I need to find a student health insurance plan in Illinois. What options are available to me that won't cause me to go broke while having it. Thanks for letting me know.
Answer: Check with your college or student health center. They usually offer to can suggest who you could go with. Short of that , you might talk to an independent broker in your area who could find a policy that would cover you in case of serious accident or injury.
Do I Need A Referral To Take My Daughter To A Pediatric Cardiologist (Illinois Health Connect Insurance)?
Question by megan | Posted in Insurance
My daughter has a heart murmur, and she's 4 months old. Her pediatrician basically said "not to worry". When she was born the pediatrician (a differnt one) said that if it was still there a few weeks after birth she'd probably be referred to get an echocardiogram.
At her 4 month appt, the doctor still heard the murmur, but called for another doc to come and listen to it to review. The second doctor sort of said "oh well I can't hear it but it's probably nothing" (my daughter had just had shots and was screaming and crying).
They together concluded that they would not refer my daughter to cardiology.
I'm under the Illinois Health Connect insurance
Answer: Your health insurance card should have a phone number for members to call customer service to inquire about such questions as this one. I would contact them and ask. Also, when you enrolled in your insurance the insurance company should have sent you a booklet about covered services and if you would need a referral for certain services. If there is no number on your card and you do not have a booklet whatever agency or person that issued this plan to you is who I would contact. Did you give your insurance information to your doctor so they can bill your insurance claims? They too should have some type of contact number on file to reach them. I would explain to your pediatrician that even
Looking For Feedback On BEST Life And Health Insurance Company?
Question by GmanG | Posted in Small Business
We are an Illinois-based small business considering them for our health insurance plan. Has any one had any experience with this company? Many thanks in advance.
Answer: Check the "ABest" financial rating for this company. ABest provides the equivalant of a FICO score for individuals, but for insurance companies. Just do a Google or Yahoo search for ABest ratings. If the company has a good rating than chances are they will be able to pay if a loss occurs. Other than that, isurance companies are mostly the same, it's who you buy it from that will make a differance. If you are buying from an independant agent, get some referances.
What Do You Look For When Looking For An Individual Health Insurance Plan?
Question by Not | Posted in Insurance
I live in Illinois and I'm just about to go off of my parent's plan. My employer doesn't provide any benefits either, so I guess I'm screwed. I don't make great money, and I have student loans to pay off as well. Moreover, I'm also planning on moving out in a few months so money will be quite tight indeed.
I'd love to get vision and dental, since I wear glasses and know from experience how important regular dental checkups are, but I'm very afraid that I won't be able to afford it.
What are the most important things you consider when looking for a new insurance plan?
Answer: 1st off, health insurance is only for health, not dental and vision. You have to get separate policies for those.
2nd; call an agent where you live. they can quote prices for an individual policy, but most likely to find one cheap enough will come with high deductibles, so in effect, you will pay for everything, but will have coverage for a catastrophic event, which is the main reason for health insurance.
3rd; don't fall into the trap of one of those plans that guarantee they insure everyone, since they pay minimum amounts out and if say you had to go to the ER, you could find yourself owing about 75% of the bill since they don't cover anything. If you see
What Health Insurance Companies In Illinois Offer Maternity Insurance?
Question by Alison | Posted in Insurance
I am not planning on becoming pregnant any time soon, but feel I should have it just in case. I want my monthly premiums to remain very low and I don't mind having a higher deductible because of this. I know Blue Cross Blue Shield offers it, but all their plans are very expensive. Thanks!
I understand premiums will be expensive. I'm looking for the lowest possible premiums, or just insurance companies that offer maternity, because not all of them do. I can do my own research as well for lowest rates.
Answer: Thanks to the Health Reform Act, insurance companies have pretty much stopped selling any kind of maternity insurance.
Now, for a small fee, you can still get the insurance discount. But, for example, the only "maternity" plan here in Texas, has a 90 day wait before conceiving, and a $5,000 deductible. Heck, my last C-Section, after the "insurance discount", was under that much. So it's not going to actually PAY.
Forget about which have the best maternity coverage. You're going to have a darned hard time finding any, to offer ANY coverage. And those, will have a big, hefty deductible on them.
