CA Auto Insurance Question! Please Help. Guy At My Office Building Claims I Damaged His Parked Car.?

So I got a call from my insurance today saying that I hit an unoccupied parked vehicle at my office building address. I was shocked to hear this! I was like, "excuse me! I hit what?" So this guy is claiming that I hit his car around 6PM..I get off work at 2:30 PM!! I said no way that man is lying and that is a fraudulent claim~! So he gave me his name and I was going to go find him...but my co-worker stopped me..and told me I should leave it alone and let the insurance companies take care of this...so I said yeah you are right...so then 2:30 comes along and i'm leaving this big guy goes up to me and asked me about his car..I said yeah my insurance guy called me and I can tell you right

Answer: The guy doesn't have a leg to stand on. Just don't let him bully you into admitting fault. Let the insurance companies handle it. That is what you pay them the big bucks to do. Just make sure they keep you in the loop. They know how to handle situations like this.

Is It Illegal For An Office Building Not To Have Sprinklers Or Smoke Detectors?

We were going through our business insurance plan and we just realized (by simply looking up at the ceilings!) that the office we've been leasing does not have sprinklers, smoke detectors, fire alarms, or anything of the like. We checked in the hallways, stairwells, and bathrooms and there do not seem to be any protective safety measures for fire hazards. The building we work in also leases to a dry cleaner and a hair salon, businesses that deal with high temperature machinery. Isn't this illegal? We're trying to figure out if our landlord is sneaking by inspection laws or something.

Answer: Instead of asking that question here, try checking with your city/state building inspectors about the building codes that apply in your state. They vary from state to state and also by the age of the building in some states.

What Would I Need To Open Up My Own Vehicle Registration & Insurance Office In Hawthorne, CA?

I want to open a vehicle registration & insurance office and I want to know what the requirements are other than a License and building. Any Help?

Answer: You can't have a vehicle registration office. Only the DMV can have those. You can open an insurance office by contacting an insurance company and finding out what their requirements are.

When Office Space Decreases, Should Property Insurance Premimum Decrease?

I own businesses. One of my businesses downsized its office space. We didn't move. We just reduced the space we occupy within the same building.

When my company's office space decreases its square footage from 5,000 to 1,000 within the same space (same building/floor), shouldn't my property insurance premimum also decrease? Why?

Answer: I doubt that your liability decreases because you have a smaller space. Liability is the major thing that could cost an insurance carrier large sums of money. The only difference I can see is that you might have less personal property and business fixtures in a smaller space. That might lower your premium um a few dollars a year.

As a business owner you should keep your insurance company honest at least every other year by getting quotes form a different broker and different companies. A few years ago I had my insurance carrier increase my premium about 15% in one year and I had not had any claims within that time. I did a little shopping around and got better coverage
