Please Help Find - Standard Form Fire Insurance Policy Authorized By State Of New York On December 31, 1934?
Question by Phil | Posted in Insurance
Aloha,
The Standard Form Fire Insurance Policy as authorized by State of New York on December 31, 1943 is the minimum insurance coverage that all insurance firms in Hawaii must offer by law.
It is of particular interest since it doesn't allow insurance companies to get away without paying when a house is damaged by a lava flow.
Reading the fine print always makes you worry...and many policies issued in Hawaii state that they exclude coverage for lava flow. Yet I confirmed with Hawaii's Commissioner that by law they must comply to this New York form that says they can't.
Questions
1. Anyone got a copy of this document? I think it is
Answer: I find it VERY hard to believe that that form is still the "standard" for use in the state of Hawaii.
You would check with your state insurance commissioner, and they WOULD have a copy of that form on file. Any form CURRENTLY approved or required for issuance, IS on file with your state insurance department.
Your insurance policy is a contract. If your contract specifically states that "lava flow" is excluded, it's excluded. And in Hawaii, if insurance companies were REQUIRED to provide that coverage, I'd guess that you wouldn't find many, if any, insurance companies willing to provide coverage in the state.

Can You Receive New York State Unemployment Insurance In My Particular Situation?
Question by gandhi165 | Posted in Financial Services
Here is my sitatuation. I am working at a job I hate and want to become a writer. I need somehow stop working at my corporate job so I can make the transition. I am currently messing up badly at work (on the path to being fired) So, do i TRY to get fired? Do I sit down and tell them it is in our best interest that i quit? Any advice would be great!
Answer: it is a great ambition that you want to be a writer but ya gotta eat!!! if you hate your job just get another.maybe a part time? this will allow you to write. also telling a company you work for that it will be in their best interest to fire just won't wash. remember that it is the employer who PAYS for unemployment, i don't think that they are going to say ok. you may also be denied benifits and have to go to a hearing where your real intentions may come to light, then no benifits. i think that just getting a part time job will serve you better. also i have friends who are writers and they work 6 months out of the year and collect unemployment for 6. i have never lost a case in labor court
Looking For Rating For The Company "NY Property Insurance"?
Question by Ooooohp's | Posted in Insurance
I'm looking for the rating for the Fire Insurance company "New York Property Insurance" (www.nypiua.com) Kindly advise.
Answer: You can't find it, because it isn't a proper insurance company. It's a "fair plan" type underwriting association, run by the state of NY, for people who can't get regular property insurance for one reason or another.
Coverage is usually narrower in scope than a standard policy, but you don't have to worry about financial status, because it's backed by all the taxpayers of the state of NY.
