I used to be a member since my insurance carrier used them but now they changed to a different much more expensive mail order pharmacy. Is there anyway I can join independantly?
it was very easy and inexpensive to get my asthma prescriptions mailed to me through them....
Answer: You can only 'join' Express Scripts if your employer or health plan is associated with them so you won't be able to sign up as an individual. However... you can do a little research to find out what Rx asthma products are on the new PBMs (Prescription Benefit Management company) "preferred dug list". You will find that you likley have other alternatives that will help you lower your copay such as an alternative brand or a generic product. Go to the new company's website and check out what they have. It is likely they will have a 'cost calculator' which you can use to estimate your costs on specific prescription drugs. Or, you can print the preferred drug list (sometimes called

Thank you for answer my Question
you willy had help me alots on here...
I live in texas.. Thank you oceanlady. :)
Answer: first off walmart charges $4.00 for generic so if your dr. wrote you a rx for lexapro it has to have permission to subituite generic for the $4.00. also if your current prescription plan does not cover a certain med then you have 2 options......1. you can ask the dr. to give you samples until you know more about your coverage........2. the dr. can call the insurance carrier and request a pre-authoration to cover the lexapro and give the reason why your dr. wants you on lexapro vs. something diefferent. i dont know what state your in, and every state is different on insurance, sorry i could not be more help good luck
John asked me in email what the cost of the lesser expense Levemir was with insurance. He said his cost with insurance was $60 for Lantus. Mine was $120 with BCBS and Express Scripts. For the Levemir it is $25. I am on fixed income and cannot afford to spend $120/month. So was trying for the "prefered" drug. Guess I will give up the few veggies and fruits I could afford to have the Lantus. Any other suggestions?
Answer: health-quotes.talk4fun.net - here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service.

Avapro has been taken off our formulary and it is the best drug for my husband to use. I would like to find out who sets these formularies and want BristolMyers Squibb to know we are very disatisfied with this. We are forced to use Express Scripts with our Insurance.
Answer: 1) Formularies are set by insurance companies. One of the determining factors as to which drugs (in a particular class)are covered is price. The insurance company may request "bids" from drug companies. For example, Avapro is called an "ACE receptor blocker". Others are valsartan, etc. The company that bids lowest gets their drug on formaulary.
2) Your complaint lies with the insurance company and Express Scripts. The drug company (BMS) has little to do with it.
3) Most insurance companies will allow you to get non-formulary medications, but you'll pay more.
4) If yout husband hasn't tried other drugs in Avapro's class, talk to
I filled my prescription with walmart and was able to fill it and had no problem then my insurance changed their policy and started going through express scripts.. which i have to get a new prescription, send it to them and then call them each month i want it filled 2 weeks before-hand.. its such a pain in the a** and i don't want to do it..... so i'm trying to buy my birth control somewhere (but everywhere requests a prescription)... i'm currently taking Yaz, but i used to use ortho-tricyclen LO so i would be able to switch to that if needed.
Answer: You can contact you doc to see if they will giv eyou some samples. my docs office always hands them out. I have a pac of YAZ my doc gave me before I got my mirena and it has never been open. If you need it you can have it. you can email me a snwwht82@yahoo.com. Most places are going to want a prescription but express scripts should let you transfer your prescription from walmart to them expecually when you had no say so in the change. I would call and raise hell until someone from the insurance company or express scripts did somthing to help me. tha is a bunch of crap
Need to change pharmacies? Dierbergs accepts Express Scripts, Anthem, Tricare and virtually all other insurance plans. It's easy to transfer.

ProfBush, did your doctor need to use any specific verbiage on your prescriptions to make sure Express Scripts provided you with 10mL vials. Or did your doctor just give Express Scripts your dosage and they were smart enough to know that a 10mL vial was the appropriate amount of medication to send to you....
It's a similar tune being sung by others in the health benefits industry, whether they are a pharmacy benefit manager like Express Scripts or a health insurance company like UnitedHealth Group (UNH), Humana (HUM) or Aetna Inc. (AET) All are ramping up
One goal of the new national alliance, called RxAlly, is to buttress Rochester-area independent pharmacies, which have been losing customers and market share to industry giants such as CVS Caremark Corp. and the newly merged Express Scripts and Medco
