UK Residents Only: Can You Take/report Car Insurance Agencies To Trading Standards?
Question by bridgesandrew96 | Posted in Insurance & Registration
It seems as if my Insurance agency (Direct Line Insurance) can't seem to understand a claim/report that I've given them (six times). I have told them what happened to my car and they keep getting their story wrong, even after sometimes the people I talk to say "oh now I see what you're saying", I still get phone calls and letters claiming some other version that I've told them (which I didn't)
Can I report these to Trading Standards?
Answer: yes you can but im not sure how they will help you that way why dont you just send them a letter explaining your version instead of tellin them on the phone

Will This Affect My Credit Rating Or My Fathers ? Uk Car Insurance Question?
Question by david d | Posted in Credit
My dad owned a car and he was also the main driver, i was a named driver but it was my bank account we set up on the policy tio make the payments as it was always me using the car so i had the direct debit on my bank account, the insurance comapny are now saying i owe them 600 quid, if this is to affect anyones credit rating will it be mines or my dads ? surely not my dads im thinking if he has never had a direct debit set up with them, only me ?
Answer: Sounds like a complicated situation.
If your Dad bought the insurance and agreed to pay the premium with installments, its likely that he also signed a Consumer Credit Act based agreement to the finance. If he did, and the premiums aren't paid, it will be his credit history that's effected.
As to who owes the money, it will be the person who signed the agreement, or who's name the agreement is in.
If you're only on the policy as a named driver, and just agreed to have the premiums paid from your account, the insurance company (or the company that underwrote the credit) have no claim on you. All you need to do is get hold of the policy or the credit

I mean what are the groups is A the best or most expensive or the most pollutive car or what?
And how do you pay is it like a monthly £200 or more going out like a direct debit?
I am only 17 and i would have passed in a month or two but I am looking to get either a VW Golf (used) or a BMW 1 series in Diesel,
Also what is all this premium rate payment and third party fire and theft stuff?
Which one should I be going for?
Thanks!
Answer: all I can advice you with is that with today's cost of diesel you'd better wise up to LPG cars, they have been around ONLY for the last 50 years all over europe *and the UK* and you'll spend less than half to run them. Ebay is full of them.
You pay either monthly or yearly, it depends on you. Obviously they'll charge you more when paying monthly.
I'd advice you to get several quotes before choosing who to go for. Find a down to earth quote instead of going for the first overinflated one you come across. Here's a fer insurers
