At the end, I received a quote from Progressive and also 3 other leading competitors. I also received a quote from Progressive Direct which is lower than Progressive quote. Does anyone of you have insurance from progressive direct? What makes it different (and hence lower) than the actual Progressive quote?
Answer: There is Progressive Drive (you would have a real local agent) and Progressive Direct (you have to use a call center & will get whoever you get). With either one, you can make changes to your policy yourself online. But, with a local agent, you will get insurance advice (what limits you should have, what deductibles you should have, is there coverage in certain situations, etc) & can ask questions & get help with claims, etc. They will also know the insurance laws in your state. If you have a call center, the people are licensed in all states they take calls for, but, they are nonresident licenses & they really don't need knowledge for every state. A local agent would have

When your claim is successful does the insurance company survey and prepare a quote then make the payment direct to the policy holder or provide a contractor to do the repairs and pay them directly?
Answer: If there are no mortgagees, the insurance company pays, minus holdbacks, directly to the insured. If there is a mortgagee, the payment check is written jointly to the insured and the mortgagee(s).
Insurance companies do not provide contractors, however, you CAN hire a contractor, and sign a "direction of pay" form, to allow the insurance company to pay the contractor directly after the repairs are complete.

tink dat car is bout 180bhp,yet i can get insured on a bmw 750i (5.4ltr Petrol) (350bhp) car and im only 21, try it yourself,i sed im 21 wit full lic and 2yrs ncb, tink it was 1700e aswell, da micra i had last yr was 2700e.
also i can get a quote on a crx vti del sol (160bhp) but not the esi (120),insurance companies haven't got a clue!

I'm planning on buying my first car in the next few weeks and have been browsing potential insurers. Progressive Direct seems to be the cheapest, but I'll need proof of insurance in order to switch the title when I buy the used car. I just am wondering if Progressive Direct is in the manner of "Quote, Buy, Print" or if there is some lengthy wait before I can provide proof of insurance?
