If I am put on disability insurance and have to leave work for a certain amount of time do they have to continue to offer me medical insurance? Or will they drop me until I come back?
Answer: When my husband was on disability, he had to take 6 months off work. The disability and medical insurance was through his work and the medical insurance still paid the hospital and medical bills. There is short term and long term disability, either way they should pay your medical bills. Contact the personnel or human resources department of your company. They should have the answers you need.
Disability Insurance?
Question by Cathrine Bolland | Posted in People with Disabilities
I am getting disability money from january. I have not managed to work in 4 years but this long took it before i was getting disability. I have had some welfare and i could not make it without my mothers help. But now they are saying i will not get full disability because of my age (25) and that there are chances i might walk again. The reason for my disability is obesity. But i think this is not fear because the money i will get is hardly anything to live on and allredy gone 4 years without i being able to work, are there anything i can do or say so i get full disability from day 1. Feeling like life is on hold waiting for this to get sorted out.
i am not from Malasyia
Thank you
Answer: Are you talking about SSI or what? It does make a difference. You should probably talk to a social security disability lawyer. If it's SSI, you can only get disability from when you applied.
Usually obesity alone won't do it. You have to have something else going on like high blood pressure. Disability is also based on age, education, prior employment, etc.
Why are you giving up at such a young age? You can still get a college education online and you could work at a desk job. You should spend your efforts trying to get off disability as soon as possible. Life shouldn't be on hold, you should be doing all you can to help yourself, including seeking medical treatment
I was on disability for a surgery I had. I went back to the Drs office and was told I had to have one more surgery which would happen that next Wednesday. I asked him if I could return to work and he said I could go to work for 2 days and that was it. I went back to work on the 10 and 11th and then got my first disability check on the 15th. What do I do to notify the disability office that I worked that 2 days and how do I explain it to them. I was on Disability until the 4th of the next month.

Answer: All you have to do is take your check stub for those two days into your local disability office.
Now, this might or might not affect your disability.
When you signed up for disability, you signed up under the fact that you could not work for ONE YEAR or more.
When you take them your check stub, they will tell you right then whether or not it will affect your disability income.
Unless you made more than $900 in that two days, then you need not worry. If you make more than $900 in any given month, OUTSIDE of your disability check, you will not receive a disability check the following month.
Suze Orman is always talking about keeping 6-8 months worth of $savings$ in an account in case you get sick, or have an accident or lose your job to help you cover your monthly expenses till you get back on your feet.
The thing is, my monthly expenses are way over 3 grand and 6 months worth of savings is over $18,000! I have no idea what she is thinking!! I wish I had over 18 grand to just stick in an account to just sit there..
Anyway..I was thinking about disability coverage?? couldn't I just take a disability plan that will help me cover my minimum expenses incase of injury, coma, lose of job ..etc??
That way I can still save alittle at a time,
Answer: Right....the 6 months savings isn't meant to be there in lieu of having a disability policy. You should have that anyway.
And, an emergency fund does not have to be 'cash.' A home equity line (assuming the bank doesn't take it away) could be used in an emergency. Sure the cash is better but it's not the only answer.
How Do I Apply For Social Security Disability Insurance?
Question by Heather | Posted in Insurance
How do i apply for social security disability insurance? I have memory loss from an accident and i have talked with my psychiatrist about it. He said i might want to consider going on disability since i have trouble even remembering what the date or day of the week is.
Answer: ~~Start by going to their website at www.ssa.gov There is a number in your area you may call and ask for assistance on getting an application for benefits. Then You can mail or they will help direct you to the application.
It's a very difficult process. You may want to ask a Social Security attorney to help you. There is extensive paper work, plus you will need all your medical records. If you have memory problems it will be much easier to have an attorney's help. They take a percentage of what back pay you will receive from the time you were first considered permanently disabled. Some will help you even if there is no back pay to collect from. You doctor can help you or call
