What's A Good Sales Team Name For The Insurance Field?

The president of my division gave four of us the task of coming up with a team name by Monday (to the effect of the winner getting a $100 gift certificate). We sell insurance to design professionals (architects, engineers, land surveyors and the like) and are comprised of three very outgoing guys and one girl (me) who is more the technical person to balance off their sales end. Our company name is Marquis. Any help that you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What Does It Cost To Get Personal Insurance?

I am a Mechanical PE. I currently work for a firm, and have been contacted to do some work on the side by an Architect. I havent told him yes or no. I would need to get insurance (i think?) and dont know anything about how to do it or how much it would cost. Any help.

Answer: Very few companies offer general and professional liability for a mechanical engineer. However, that's not saying that the coverage is not available. You will need to contact an independent agent in your area that works with commercial risks. I suggest an independent agent because they can access more than a single company and can access insurance carriers that specialize in underwriting this type of risk.

A good agent who is familiar with the market will easily be able to give you a ballpark minimum premium that you could expect to pay. Then you have to decide if the amount of business you get from the architect overcomes the cost of the insurance.

Help! - New Build Insurance Guaranttees?

I have nearly completed building a new 3 bed house in Stockport on a plot of land i bought in auction last year. The problem is for me sell the house i believe i needed a insurance guaranttee or architects certification. I have neither. Any advice?

Answer: Yes. Go get the architects' cert. Or the insurance guarantee.

Claim Denied By Insurance?

Had Builder's Risk Insurance, this insurance is for construction of residential house, the foundation wall collapsed during 3rd day, the foundation wall was not build as per plan, i had to sue builder, architect and surveyor. my insurance company denied the calim. i though they will pay to repair or rebuild and then recover or sue my builder. they also denied to pay me rent even though i had loss of use of property coverage. any way i can collect the claim to rebuild, repair foundation wall or rent i pay till the wall is fixed.

Answer: A builders risk endorsement on a policy is for theft of building materials, only. If the house was to be done in about 6 months, you could have purchased a regular homeowners policy (if it was intended to be your primary home) and added the endorsement. Faulty construction is NEVER covered by any property policy. It is an exclusion in the policy. You have to contact the commercial policy, hopefully you obtained certificates of GL & WC from the contractors (ALL of them working on the house) so you know who the insurance company is. It is also possible they deny coverage for faulty workmanship because a GL generally is for accidental damage (for example - a piece of construction equipment
