I'm looking for a school in southern california that offers training in insurance adjusting. i'm trying to obtain my license in california and want to take a course

Answer: Call CA State Insurance Dept. They should be able to give you a list of approved Insurance Adjuster schools.
 
 

How Can I Do Business With Insurance Adjusters?

We are an Abatement company, We remove Asbestos, Lead and Mold and would like some help as to how to I get on a vendor list, become a sponsor or any type of association to be able to get contracts with Insurance adjusters so we can work for them when they receive property and commercial claims that would need our services. Please someone advise.

Answer: You can do an internet search and locate your local Claims Association. You can join and get involved. Show up at the monthly meetings.

If you offer services that other restoration companies can not offer, you may want to get to know some of the restoration companies in the area. They may be able to sub out to you from time to time.

The biggest problem you may have, is that many insurance policies may not cover that work.

Most homeowners policies provide very limited coverage for mold. Mold can also be safely mitigated by any reputable water restoration company.

Can / Do Insurance Adjusters Record Conversations When They Call You?

I am curious to know if when you talk to an insurance adjuster regarding your claim if they can / do record the phone calls. I know when you call them, the little messages states "this call may be recorded for quality assurance." But what about when they phone me? And also what is legal here and what can they use from the recordings?

Answer: Whenever ANYONE calls you...if the call is being recorded they must immediately disclose this to the person who answered the phone. If they are taking a recorded statement from you concerning your insurance policy or accident it is being used for investigative purposes (like the cops), and can be used, as evidence at trial.

What Do I Need To Have Ready For Insurance Adjusters?

I have an insurance adjuster coming out to my house and I want to know what do I need to have ready for him. For example my list of expenditures, list of damaged personal items, pictures?

Answer: He will want to look at the damage for himself. If you have already made repairs you will need pictures and receipts. Call your insurance agent and he will give you a better idea of what to expect. He will also probably give you the number of the adjuster so that you can contact him before he arrives.

Can You Negotiate With Insurance Adjusters?

I got in a car accident and I do not want to take my car to a crappy shop for my bumper to be fixed. It will be around $1,000 at my place of choice but I'm nervous the insurance company will low ball me. Can I negotiate with them?

Answer: It's kind of hard to negotiate property damage.
It's either damaged or it's not.

The insurance company will write an estimate to repair the car. We don't "low ball". We write an estimate to repair the damage as we see it. Some of my estimates are higher than the shop (b/c the shop missed something and I saw it) and some are lower. The prices in my estimating program are set on the market - I don't get to make those up.

You can take the car to the shop of your choice. Some insurance companies have a direct repair program where the insurance company will guarantee the repairs. It's a really easy way to get the car repaired -if you choose to do it.
