Do Homeowners' Insurance Claims Follow The Home Or The Homeowner?

If you file a claim on your homeowners' insurance, does the claim follow the homeowner if you move to a new residence? That is, if you move do you start with a clean slate?

Answer: If you have a claim on your car....then sell the car after it's been repaired....do you get a clean slate?

No.

The claim will remain on your CLUE report.

When you go to apply for a new policy with a different company and it asks if you have had prior claims...you still have to list the claim on the new policy application.

Can A Roofer Also Be A Homeowners Insurance Claims Adjuster ?

The roofer who seeks to do the roof work on my home says he thinks we have a claim for hail damage and will work with our insurance company in the capacity of a claims adjuster?

Answer: A roofer can't work in the capacity as a claims adjuster. Only a claims adjuster can work as a claims adjuster.

The company I work for, does not use roofers to inspect homes. We send out adjusters to do it.

Many roofing companies will look at a roof and tell the homeowner to turn in a claim. Once the claim gets turned in, I get assigned to go look at the roof. Sometimes, I go out to look at a roof and there is no hail damage (even though a roofer told the homeowner there was.....there are just some roofers who have never seen a roof that did not need to be replaced, in their opinion). If there is damage, I write an estimate and issue a check. If there is no

Who Is The Best Insurance Company For Someone Who's Had Homeowners Insurance Claims In The Past?

Answer: If you have been cancelled for too many claims, you will probably have a hard time getting coverage anywhere. At best, you will need to get a policy with a high deductable. This happens when companies lean towards the idea that you think they are there to fix everything that happens to your house or that you are "making" things happen to claim them.

How Do I Dispute A Partial Denial Of A Homeowners Insurance Claim?

There was a hail storm in our area and may (most) homes had roof damage, including mine. 95% of the homes in my subdivision have gotten new roofs from homeowners insurance claims. However, my adjuster said my roof was not damaged "enough" to warrant a new roof, only repair/patching to the back side of the roof. I have Allstate and so do several neighbors. Their claims were paid, in full, with now questions asked. The difference between my claim and theirs is the adjuster. They all had a different one than me. I have called and written the main office locally and the corporate office in Illinois, to no avail. They tell me my only recourse is to take them to court.

Answer: Each claim is paid according to it's merit. Each claim is different and has a different set of conditions. It is unfair to compare your damage to the damage of your neighbors because the damage is NEVER identical, and sometimes, the policy is different, and THAT is what determines what and how your claim gets paid.

Whether it's Allstate, Farmers, State Farm, Joe Blow down the street--the 1st method of repair is just that, repair. If your roof can be fixed by repairing the damaged portion, that is what they pay for. If the only way to "repair" the roof is to pay for an entire new roof then they will pay for a new roof. Your roof would need to be so far beyond repair

Can I Put In For 2 Homeowners Insurance Claims?

My tree in my front yard fell during a snow storm. I have 2 homeowners policies can I put a claim in with both companies for the same tree

Answer: Yes you can. BUT, you don't get paid twice. The two companies would "share" the cost of the claim.

More to the point - did the tree land on covered property and damage it? If there's no damage to a covered structure, then there isn't any coverage for the tree, anyway.
