What Are My Best Options For Self-employed Health Insurance With Maternity In Illinois?

I am leaving a well paid corporate job with great benefits to work for myself. I was recently married and my wife wants to have children soon. She does not have benefits through her job so I need to ensure we are covered well. What are some great options for affordable health coverage in Illinois that includes maternity and what's the time frame before maternity coverage kicks in?

Answer: Maternity is very expensive on an individual policy. The wait is usually 1 year, meaning the pregnancy can't begin until after a year has elapsed. Maternity is about $350 to $450 extra a month. But it is very worth it if there are any complications.
Probably BCBS is your best bet.
You can get a quote by going to www.bcbsil.com, just enter your zip and go from there.
You might consider a high deductible HSA plan too, but you would still need to add maternity to that plan.

Where Can A Person Find Affordable Health Insurance...?

...in Illinois if they are single, childless, and with low income?

Answer: ~~As the previous answerer said, what you want rally is not available. Do you qualify for health insurance though your state for low income? Start there, at least your kids should qualify.

If not there, look up local agents in your area that sell a variety of packages with different health care insurance companies. An agent cost you nothing and can work with you to find the best policy for what you can afford. In the meantime, makes sure you let your senator know you support the public option, as we all desperately need this to be passed.~~

This is his Senate record from his plan. Note at the end that one of his "accomplishments" is putting together a task force.
That probably took...what(?) months to tackle?

The raise of insurance cost is a direct link to their own raisng of insurance on themselves against law suits.

Sometimes, we have to step back, and look at ourselves before we point fingers at someone else.

Illinois doctors are leaving some counties, and even the state because of these lawsuits.

Federal Affordable Care Act?

I am working right now on switching health care providers to have a more national plan (my current plan is local). I am 18 years old and this would be an individual plan. I turn 19 on October 20, 2010. Golden Rule (united health) placed an indefinite exclusionary rider on my policy. I found the following statement on a website (http://www.insurance.illinois.gov/health insurance/ya_dependent.asp) which states:

"NOTE: Under the federal Affordable Care Act, group health insurance policies and non-grandfathered individual health insurance policies (i.e., policies issued on or after March 23, 2010) will not be allowed to impose any preexisting condition limitations beginning

Answer: From what you have posted, this sounds correct. I would call Golden Rule though to make sure, or just wait to switch until after Sept 23. Good luck!

Some Tips On Finding More Affordable Auto Insurance | Cheap ...

Getting affordable auto insurance isn’t actually very difficult these days owing to the proliferation of companies that are available to purchase insurance from. Settling for one of the first insurance companies you find that offers you a decent rate will take away your opportunity to find more competitive rates elsewhere. Gather some competitive quotes and then start calling up various insurance companies asking them to better them. This is not going to happen and if you want some really affordable rates you need to make this happen yourself....
