I Am Looking To Become Open Up An Insurance Agency In New York. Does Anybody Know The Requirements?

I read somewhere that you need two years experience in the insurance business however nothing on the NYS insurance department website mentions experience. It says you need to take a course and exam, licensing fee and you must get bonded? Can anyone else confirm for me.

Thanks

Answer: I USE THIS SITE OF ALL INFORMATION ABOUT THAT.

I Have An Interview At New York Life Insurance Today, Does Anyone Think This Is A Good Company To Work For?

I hope I wont just do door to door sales or phone soliciting. Am I asking too much since this will be my first job at an insurance agency?

Answer: I used to work for them as an agent a little over 8 years ago for about 3 months. I can tell you about my experience with them, but remember this was about 8 years ago and some things may have changed.

It was my first insurance agent job and my second job since graduating college. The job I had before was in retail sales, so I was fairly green to insurance.

To answer your first question "is this a good company to work for?" The answer is: sure. They are a financially strong insurance company. They treat their employees with respect (at least this was my experience). And they have some of the best insurance products out there. BUT, the agency position at

What Are The Best Auto Insurance Agencies For New York State?

Best and cheapest?

Answer: The real question would be which is best and cheapest for you with your circumstances. If there was one insurance company anyone could point to as absolute best and cheapest, the others would eventually go away.

What is best for me, and my circumstances, might be the highest for you.

Call an independent agent not connected with just one big company, give him your information, ZIP, type of vehicle, and what coverage you want, he will then look up your driving record and credit rating and the other things they rate you on, and suggest the best for YOU from his data base of available companies in your state.

What Is Valid Proof Of Residency In An Car Insurance Investigation?

my car insurance agency is trying to prove that i am a new york resident,bc i work for a company in new york, and i pay new york state taxes bc my company is registered in new york, but i have north carolina license and car registration, and i have some bills in north carolina, but i live with my parents in north carolina, so i do not have many bills in my name do to my traveling position? what can i do?

Answer: Proving residency comes up quite often. The normal things the insurance company will want are a; Drivers license
Utility bill in your name
Credit card bill with your address shown
Bank or other financial account showing your address
Any other bill that shows your address, such as cell phone

Without this information you will have a very tough time proving residency in NC and you can probably expect your rates to go up or your policy may even be canceled. Good Luck

Career Car Salesman Vs Insurance Salesman?

I'm fresh out college and only jobs available are commission based from auto sales companies (IRA Toyota) and insurance agencies (New York Life, Northwest Mutual, Prudential). What are the pros and cons of each and which would you choose.

Right now I'm leaning auto just because I'd rather deal with on-site customers than making cold calls to random individuals. Also I heard the insurance agencies like Northwest make you compile a list of friends and relatives than you have to call and harass. Love to get more info though. Thanks in advance to whoever replies

Answer: Neither of your choices are enticing to me. How many car salesmen or insurance salesmen have years of employment with the same company. Each is a career many young people choose until they find it really doesn't have a good future. I'd get into Real Estate for a more permanent and stable career.
