I need insurance for my Seahog Hunter boat. anyone know a good insurance company were you don't need boat survey in the UK. THANKS

Answer: The need for a survey will normally depend on age.

Try Mardon or Nautical, I've found both of these competitive, Nautical saved me 30% on his years reneal for exactly the same cover as I previously had.

Alternatively just put a search on the web under marine insurance and complete some online quotes.
 
 

Boat Insurance?

We just bought our first boat. I know that in the state of Kentucky it is not required to have boat insurance, but it make good financial sense to have it. I called my agent this morning and he wanted to know how much coverage we wanted. I just assumed that it was like home owners or automobile insurance., But I guess not. So here is my question. Besides the obvious replacement cost, should we include anything else. Thanks for answering.

Answer: we covered our boat 15 years ago for its then value. our allstate agent failed to inform us that we continued to pay premiums on the original value. The $20,000 rate dropped significantly since the value is now $8,000. a good agent will cover the boat, passengers and equipment. ask a lot of questions and you'll be fine - enjoy the water.

What Is The Going Rate For Boat Insurance?

I was thinking of purchasing a 17 to 24 foot in length crownline boat with a V-8 engine (not sure how big of V-8) and trailer. I have no idea what insurance will run and thought I would ask. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Answer: There are so many variables to consider that providing an answer is not easy. Things like your experience, location, where you're going to be boating, age of the boat/trailer, etc.

A 17, 18, 19 footer with a V-8 may/may not be insurable and considered over powered by some insurance agencies.

Guesstimate? Our 33' cruiser w/ twin V-8's runs us a little more than $1,000 per year. You might figure on maybe $500 - 700 per annum.

The easiest way to find out is to let your fingers do the walking by either calling or emailing carriers. BoatUS, National Marine Underwriters are two good ones specializing in marine insurance and don't forget to check with

Do You Have To Get Boat Insurance For Your Personal Boat?

I'm pretty certain you dont HAVE to get boat insurance like you do auto insurance, but if anyone knows otherwise, I'd like to know. I live in maryland, but I'm sure in most states u dont have to get insurance for your boat.

Answer: IN MARYLAND you do not need boat insurance, but you do have to have a boat operators license if you was born after July 1, 1972. Maryland also charges a boat tax, even on non residents if the boat is there more than 60 days

Its best to check with your state you live in, for some states like ARKANSAS requires liability insurance if the boat motor is larger than 50 hp.

In South Carolina Do You Have To Have Boat Insurance?

I am thinking about getting my first boat and was wondering do you have to have boat insurance in SC?

Answer: liability insurance will be required. if its a boat that you have financed then the finance company will require it regardless of what state you're in.
