Concerning Faith, What Do You Think Of This Quote By Flannery O'Connor?
Question by Jon M dn ǝpıs sıɥ┴ | Posted in Religion & Spirituality
I really like it. Since I'm something of a science-minded guy (slide rule), it calls me to remind myself of the difference between true faith in God and some kind of "poor man's insurance system." In your answer, pay special attention to that last sentence.
"[Certain believers] don't really have faith but a kind of false certainty. They operate by the slide rule and the Church for them is not the body of Christ but the poor man's insurance system. It's never hard for them to believe because actually they never think about it. Faith has to take in all the other possibilities it can." -- Flannery O'Connor, 1957
Ottoman: :) A good man shore is hard
Answer: I think a lot of believers just believe because they think it will keep them from going to hell. They don't question anything. I question things in the Bible and I look at other ideas, other faiths. At the end, I always maintain my belief that my faith is the right one for me. I think examining religious beliefs is the best way to understand and be sure of what one believes in. But I never completely shut out the possibility that there could be other paths to God which are as good as mine.

Question by Esme from Idaho | Posted in Newborn & Baby
We didn't feel like paying for connor to get circumcised as a newborn because our insurance didn't cover it. But recently while playing outside with no pull up on in the kiddie pool he was stung by a wasp and the foreskin flared up like a balloon and even now a week later it is inflamed. Our pediatrician recommends that he get circumcised since steroid creams are not helping.
He is 27 months old. It will be done at the childrens hospital in Boise. How long will recovery be? And what hings will I need to buy to apply to him? And will he need to be diaper less during the healing time?
Answer: I really wish people would read the question before posting bizarre responses about not circumcising boys.
The child was stun by a wasp and had an allergic reaction, it's sad to see people jumping to answer what they think is a circumcise or not question.
