my family has regence of bluecross blueshield health insurance, and they really dont pay for anything, we live in washington and are self employed, is there any other health insuance in washington for self employed?

My husband has empire's bluecross blue shield health insurance (PPO) and i was wondering if this was a good health insurance or not? I don't know anyone who has it so I'm not too sure whether it is or isn't? Do you have to pay a lot out of your pocket?(he just got it this month through his job so we haven't gone to doctor's yet to see how much money we'll have to pay for doctor's visits.) Thanks for all answers

Answer: What kind of company is Empire (large public or small)? It depends greatly. The reason is that if it is a self-funded plan benefits can be wildly different. I am a healthcare lawyer who works with numerous plans often and I can tell you that benefits, while usually fairly uniform, can vary. The easiest thing to do is ask his HR person for a schedule of benefits under the plan. This should clear up most of your questions.

Is Bluecross Blueshield For Individual Coverage A Very Good Health Insurance This For People Who Cant Pay F?

I used to have blue cross blue shield through group coverage now my only options is individual since my insurance ran out and cobra is too expensive.Does anybody know about individual coverage???

Answer: Humana is the best that's inexpensive but the deductibles are pretty high*

What Health Insurance Is Better, Aetna Or Bluecross Blueshield?

I have BCBS and thinking about switching to Aetna. Just want to know what is the best choice. Thanks!

Answer: I'm an insider (supervisor at a big health ins co). Here's what most people don't know. The carrier has little to do with anything. Most accounts are ASO now (administrative services only). This means that your company has a bank account that claims are paid out of. They set the benefits, etc. Then they pay a company like one of the above (and no, I don't work for any of these) to process claims, provide customer service, contract providers, etc.

The insurance company doesn't make decisions... they just implement the rules specified by the company who has contracted them.

Thus, read the plans for all three. Determine what you need, how much you will use it,

I Just Got Layed Off Last Week And Had Health Insurance ( Blueshield/bluecross)?

Does anyone know how long i can continue using my health insurance i currently had , or is there another way of getting health insurance through my unemployment benefits?

Answer: being laid off does not terminate you medical insurance. You are on what we call "furlough" so you are still covered.

If you are permanently laid off, or teminated, you will receive a letter telling you that you are eligible for COBRA, which means you can take the option of paying for the insurance yourself. (Warning: its expensive).

So fret not, you are covered until you are terminated.
