Blue Cross Insurance? How Soon Can You Start Using It?

Well, I want to get braces but don't have any insurance whatsoever (other than the mandatory Medicare). I live in NS by the way. I would like to get Blue Cross insurance but have no idea how to do so and when I would be able to start using my insurance towards my braces. Also, I have a minor benign tumor on my pituitary gland so will that affect my rating for insurance? What other insurance companies are there in Atlantic Canada? Thanks for your help :)

Answer: Most Insurance Companies make you wait a month before you can use them. I believe that Insurance companies frown on taking care of an ongoing medical problem. I had to tell the doctor that my medical problem only happens from time to time and somehow that got through the loophole in the insurance.

What Rehabs Do Blue Cross Insurance Cover?

Im covered under my parents insurance (im a minor) and i wanna check myself into rehab, long ass story but does anyone know what rehabs in Michigan Blue Cross covers?

Answer: You say that, like there's only one Blue Cross plan in Michigan.

There are dozens.

Additionally, as a minor, you couldn't possibly do it without your legal guardian to sign you in.

You need to start out, by calling the number on the back of your card, and asking what kind of rehab services are covered, in which facilities. Then, you need to sit down and have a chat with at least one of your parents.

What Does My Deductible Mean On My Blue Cross Insurance?

On my medical card it has a $20 copay and then a spot where it says ded: $1000/2000. I'm assuming that is deductible? Is that the amount I have to pay when going to the doctors office and they take care of anything after that amount? And if so, is that what comes out of my check each month?
In addition, if I have tests/labwork done, is that included in my insurance after the deductible is paid, or am I going to see a bill for that later on?

Thanks!

Answer: 1000 deductible means if you have an individual plan you must pay the first $1,000 of cost before your insurance kicks in. The $2,000 is if you have a family plan (you have to pay the first $2,000 before the plan kicks in)

The $20 copay is what you have to pay every time you see your doctor.

What comes out of your check each month is your premiums. That is the cost you must pay to have insurance and has nothing to do with your copay or deductibles.

You have to check if your plan includes lab tests. Usually these are included in your deductible which means if you have say $600 of lab tests plus another $400 of hospital stay you had to pay these before

I Am Pregnant And Thinking Of Quitting My Job. Will My Blue Cross Insurance Still Cover The Pregnancy?

I have the option of being added to my husbands insurance, would it be considered pre-existing?

Answer: You will probably have to get some kind of supplemental insurance, like COBRA. It's insanely expensive; like $600 per month for a single person. You usually get 30 days from the time you terminate your employment to decide if you want to sign on for it.

Edit:

Whether or not it will be considered pre-existing on your husband's insurance depends on his insurance. The company I work for has Aetna for their insurance company. They always consider pregnancy pre-existing if the woman was pregnant before becoming insured - even if it was never medically diagnosed until after she was insured. (i.e. If the baby was conceived prior to the coverage beginning, it's considered

How Can I See How Much Something Will Cost Through Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance?

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and I'm trying to see if getting my tonsils out is covered by my plan, and how much i would end up paying after insurance. The website doesn't seem to have anywhere to check these things. I've dealt with insurance companies over the phone before and they don't seem to be too competent, and always give conflicting info (at least in my case). Anyone with this insurance know how i can find out this stuff?

Answer: You call the number on the back of your card.
