No Insurance New Law Out This Year -SORN-No-insurance Well This Be Right Read My Info? |
From early this new scheme is being introduced to make sure that all vehicles stay insured or a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) is made. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) are working together to reduce the number of uninsured drivers.
records held by DVLA will be compared with those on the Motor Insurance Database (MID).
From early 2011, if it appears from the database comparison that a vehicle has no insurance or no SORN, a letter will be sent to the registered keeper.

| Answer: If you have a vehicle and it has no insurance then you cannot legally even park it on the road so you would not want to spend money on tax so you would obviously make it SORN. If you do so then you are playing by all the rules and so you will not get fined. I cannot see for the life of me how this cannot be FAIR to everyone else who plays by the rules - the vast majority of us in fact. Whether you think it is fair or not this is going to start in about 2 months time. Along with the increasing numbers of ANPR devices on the roadside and in Police cars there is going to be a massive crackdown on insurance fraud and evasion in the UK - about time too.
